Responsive 3D Gravitational System with Hand Tracking
using Leap Motion and Max / Jitter ・ Spring 2017
I built this system to explore multi-hand interaction in space:
Left index finger steers center of gravity
Angle of right hand controls amplitude
of attraction or repulsion
I enjoyed seeing people gain a facility in maneuvering the system, conducting gravitational characteristics with their hands in parallel.
Prompted as a project in spatial typography, the only constraint was the [contrived] use of the word "design".
As my first use of Max, I learned a lot about 6 degree-of-freedom springs, routing spatial data from Leap Motion hand tracking, and linking parameters for intuitive interaction.
